Twenty years at the bench
feature-*.jpg: Ian at the bench or on site, hands and timber in frame.I B Interiors is Ian Brice.confirm wording with Ian
Ian spent his first decade fitting furniture other people had designed, learning what a drawing needs to survive an old house. Now he designs, builds and installs his own: a limited number of projects a year, each finished before the next begins.
Placeholder biography, written from what we know so far (20+ years, carpentry, Bristol). To be replaced with Ian's own story after the interview: how he started, where he trained, the first kitchen he made, what he refuses to do, and a photo of him at work.
"Built-in furniture is the part of a house you touch every day. It should be made like it matters."Ian Brice, I B Interiors placeholder quote
Designed with you
From the first conversation you talk to the person who will build and fit the work.
Quiet, warm, exact
Pale timber, honest surfaces, calm proportions. Restraint is the luxury.
Fitted to the house
Old walls, odd angles, uneven floors. We build for the house you have.
What we do
Bespoke woodwork for the whole house
Kitchens are where most people find us. The same carpentry goes wherever a house needs something built in rather than bought.

- Bedrooms & dressing roomsWardrobes, walk-ins, fitted storage
- Media walls & living roomsShelving, alcoves, hidden cables

- Utility, boot rooms & pantriesCupboards, laundry, coats, larders

Confirm with Ian which of these he actually offers; whether fitting-only for client-supplied kitchens should be offered; and whether he builds the cabinetry himself or with a joinery partner.
Materials
The right material for the job, named honestly
Every project is specified openly, by use and budget: solid wood where it earns its place, engineered boards where they perform better, and we'll always tell you which is which.
- Solid wood & veneersHardwoods and decorative veneers
- MDF & MFCStable, hard-wearing, budget-conscious
- FinishesHand-painted, oiled, stained or lacquered
- WorktopsMarble, quartz & Corian via local specialists
For stone and solid-surface worktops we work with trusted local fabricators, and coordinate templating and fitting ourselves so the whole kitchen lands as one piece.partner names: ask Ian
A note on cost
Every project is priced from its own drawings, but as a guide most of the kitchens we design, build and install fall between £XX,000 and £XX,000 including installation, excluding appliances and worktops. We'll give you an honest indication at the first conversation, before anyone has spent a day drawing.
How it works

Build
Your cabinetry is built and finished in the workshop; you're welcome to see it in progress.workshop visit: confirm
Install & handover
We fit, scribe and finish on site, coordinate worktops and appliances, and hand over a room ready to live in.
Common questions
Do you only make kitchens?
No. Kitchens are most of the work, but we design, build and fit bedrooms, dressing rooms, media walls, studies, utility rooms and other interior cabinetry.
Where do you work?
Bristol, Bath and South Gloucestershire, with London projects built in Bristol and installed in planned blocks.
Do you work with architects and interior designers?
Yes. We price, detail and build to your drawings, and return setting-out details for sign-off before anything is made.
What materials do you use?
Solid wood, veneers, and painted MDF or MFC, chosen by use and budget and always named honestly. Finishes are hand-painted, oiled, stained or lacquered. Stone and solid-surface worktops come through trusted local fabricators, with templating coordinated by us.
How do we start?
A fifteen-minute call or a home visit, with no obligation. Book either from the consultation page.

What people say when it's finished
[PLACEHOLDER REVIEW 1] Two or three sentences from a real client, in their own words, about the design, the build quality and what it was like having Ian's team in the house. Ideally a kitchen.
[PLACEHOLDER REVIEW 2] Ideally a bedroom, media wall or study project, to show it isn't only kitchens.
[PLACEHOLDER REVIEW 3] Ideally one from an architect or interior designer who has worked with I B Interiors.
